Authors often use many tools in order to make their stories more interesting. Two of those tools are symbolism and allusion. Symbolism is when something in the story really means something else, like when watching Spongebob he may have a small cloud that rains over his head. This doesn’t mean it’s raining, it is symbolism for being sad or having a bad day.

Allusion is when an author includes something from another story in their own. Then one would realize that the author had read the other story too. Both Charles Dickens and C. S. Lewis were very good at using symbolism and allusions in their stories. What symbolism and allusions do you see in A Christmas Carol and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe? How do you know that is what they mean? What clues are hidden in the stories to prove it?

What is your favorite part of the book so far? What is your least favorite part of the book? Compare the books to other books you read and discuss what you think of the book over all. Also be sure to respond to at least one other person’s answer to the question. (This means you should have two posts total).
